in the music world. >> nicole: just hours being named number one. new york knicks hung on. we will have the highlights ahead. welcome to fbn:am, what to expect on the day ahead and breaking news. >> lauren: china's growth domestic products grew 2 nt 68% last year. it's down 6.9 from last quarter. economic growth for all of 2015 was the slowest in 25 years. so let's get a loser look at how asian markets reacted with business reporter tracy yu. tracy is a reporter for chinese state television. good morning, tracy. >> tracy: good morning, ladies, like you said, asian markets are all in the green. the shanghai composite bounced back by more than 3.2% after

beijing released gdp. that's pretty much in line with market expectations. that lifted a little bit. like you said, it was the lowest of growth number in 25 years. over in hong kong people seem to be taking the number well. and over in tokyo, japanese markets also snapped losing streak finally gaining about half a percent. that's after u.s. dollar climbed against the japanese yen to 117 level and over in south korea t kospi snapped a losing streak led by pharmaceutical companies as well as samsung electronics. back to you. >> lauren: all right, tracy, thank you so much. >> nicole: we will find out later this morning if wall street is in a bind mood. let's check out u.s. stock market futures this morning. we are seeing lots of up arrows.

we haven't seen much of that in 2016. we have rob. good morning to you, rob. we saw your interest and some of the -- you're not looking at healthcare, telecom, you are liking financials, technology. tell us how you're going to break down the market this week because it's tricky and volatile. >> as i was coming into 2016, i rotated more the defensive sectors and financials, really, i think, nicole, what you just touched on there, they're my favorite play right now. the fed is going to continue to raise rates and as long as the yield curve stays, that should help bank. we are getting reports today of bank of america and jpmorgan. defensive sectors are kind of

what i'm looking at right now. >> lauren: what do you make of the banks reporting there, rob? >> i think so, we saw jpmorgan chase last week with a good report but it was mainly from cost cutting. it wasn't a huge amount of revenue growth. we also saw some writeoffs related to the commodity space. i think we are going -- and so i would suspect to see more of the same today. i think we will see some good reports but more from cost cutting and some commodity-related writeoffs. >> tell me about the fed, rob. >> i think the fed is going to keep raising rates. the debate is whether it would be two hikes this year or four. >> i think it's going to be four. >> nicole: did you say it's going to be four? is that what you said? >> i think so. we will see one a quarter and,

yes, the competition is on and the tbloafs are off. >> nicole: as we talk about the republican national committee officially canceling nbc, gop debate in houston. made the decision after many republicans were dissatisfied with the republican debate. shortly after that, the chairman sent a letter to nbc officials suspending the partnership. meantime the committee says nb c-spanish network telemondayo will remain as a partner in the debate. >> lauren: donald trump threatening to walk away from the deal, whether to ban him from the u.s. british lawmakers taking up the issue after trump called temporary ban on muslims entering the u.s. following last month easter ror attack out of california.

trump would abandon his plan and leisure industry. regardless of this debate, the british parliament does not plan to vote on banning the gop presidential front runner but they have to debate it because the people want them to. >> nicole: there's a report that the pentagon may retro actively demote david prrg ateus. the defense secretary ash carter will consider to overrule the army's recommendation to maintain rank. the demotion would be because he gave classified information, misteses, a demotion would result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for the former cia director. >> lauren: with international sanctions lifted iran is now set to pump more oil into a global market that is already oversupplied. iranian government has called on

oil industry to open the taps on production. meanwhile, secretary of state john kerry is providing more details about the prisoner swap with tehran, will drop charges against seven iranians. >> many of those people who had been in prison, we had enforced the law and convicted them and done what we needed to do to enforce the sanctions but seferlg of them, a good number were months away, just literally months away from getting out anyway. we don't feel like we traded something that was critical with respect to a principal. >> lauren: five americans were released by iran over the weekend, the family of former fbi agent is still hoping for his safe return. vanished from iranian resort in 2007 making him the longest-held u.s. hostage. and as we were talking about oil production, something to point out, iea, energy watchdog says that the world is saturated with crude, too much right now and

the u.s. dollar. >> nicole: we have been watching the ten-year yield. >> lauren: bank of america among companies out before the bell for the past two quarters it has beaten expectations for both earnings and revenue, 26 cents a share, 6 cents less than a year. $19.7billion. also morgan stanley expect to see earnings dropped to 33 cents. morgan stanley expected to report renew of 7.59 million a drop from 8 billion a year ago. delta airlines, they can benefit from low oil prices, delta earnings expected to jump from 78 cents a year to 1.19. that's a bit less than a year ago. >> nicole: let's take a look at the headlines in today's edition of the wall street journal. south korea to sue audi

tracy is a reporter. good morning, tracy. >> tracy: asian markets are rallying today. we are all over in the green in china. sentiments was lifted after china released fourth quarter and numbers at 6.9% at 2015, the lowest growth number in 25 years. pretty much in line with expectations. investors in hong kong took the number pretty well. more stimulus from beijing. over in tokyo, japanese shares finally snapped losing streak. nikkei bouncing back about half a percent. that's the u.s. dollar climbed and pushing the yen back to 117-level and exporters were higher as a result and over in to the korea, kospi due to

at your tuesday forecast with fox meteorologist maria molina. good morning, maria. >> maria: we are tracking frigid here across the northeast and mid atlantic. take a look at the numbers this morning. it feels like 4-degrees in new york city. places like pittsburgh 9-degrees below zero. and chicago 13-degrees below zero. you have the bundle up across the areas. so it's going to stay chilly out there. forecast hi temperatures, forecast only into the 20's across some areas. you can see by 1:00 a.m. wednesday, still cold out there but there will be some improvement temperature wise. we are going to see a storm system moving into parts of the plains. also over in the next couple of days it's going to continue east ward. across the east coast you have to watch late friday and also into saturday the potential of

by 3.2%. showing the whole 2015 grew 6.9%, which is the first time in recent memory that dipped below 7% growth and the lowest growth rate in about 25 years. but that news actually encouraged hong kong investors which the hang sang rose about 2% as they think another wave of stimulus is coming perhaps in interest rate cut and over in tokyo, japanese stocks bounced back, gaining about half a percent as the u.s. dollar strengthen against the japanese yen, pushing to 117th level. the kospi also snapped losing streak up about 6 tenths and 1%. >> lauren: investors hoping for stimclues. tracy yu, thank you so much. >> nicole: we bring market analysts ig. josh, what do you make of the

action we are seeing today? today we are seeing this bounceback, does this hold? >> i don't think it does quite honestly. i think that we are seeing a bounce based on the fact that, you know, we've led in the europe markets and stimulus over in china. i don't think people are going to get too -- in awe by china. yes, it picked up 0.1 to 0.2 but that's not going to do too much in terms of interest rates expectations, actually if you look at the futures markets, it's actually pricing in a cut as the next move as oppose to a high. actually i don't think we are looking, last two or three

trading days and has failed back to it. we could really start to see that selling ramp up once more. this is a temporary within a selloff. >> lauren: good numbers to watch if you're looking at the ftse. dow here, if you look at it in the past two weeks, we had 13 straight days of triple-digit moves. what do you make of the volatility in for it's great for traders. ultimately this is all being built in terms of dow and some of the european expertise markets and that is every time we saw some gains, they are minimal and we start today see markets really take off in terms of movements towards the downside. unfortunately it was more geared towards downside than upside because we have been seeing specially in the last ftse. very minimal gains when we are taking highs and when we get pullbacks we can see, so actually, you know, coming into

at least it happened to me. let's take a look at the latest in sports n. college basketball oklahoma sooners on top of associated press college poll for the first time in about 26 years and just hours later they were being -- beating number 19. oklahoma became the fifth number one this season to lose. the person with knowledge of the deal the detroit tigers have degreed on a six-year contract with free agent justin upton, the deal worth 132 and three quarter million dollars. upton hit .251 last season. >> nicole: let's get a look at the chilly forecast with fox meteorologist maria molina. >> maria: cold temperatures out there across great lakes and into the northeast. windchill temperatures are

either in single digits or below zero. this is what it feels like as you head out the door. in detroit 3 below zero and farther west north also very cold, international false, 16-degrees below zero for windchills and forecast high temperatures should stay below average across eastern part of the nation for today. as far as south like tampa, 58-degrees for forecast temperature out there. really start to go feel a lot like winter for many of you, aagain across the eastern half of the nation. duo have some snow in the forecast for many different areas. many are across parts of the plains and midwest, low pressure moving through with winter weather as early as today across places like missouri and also eventually into parts of illinois accumulating snow is possible, winter weather advisories have been issued. let's head over to you.

>> nicole: taking cue out of asia. what we are looking right now ftse 1.8%. cac quarante and china giving stimulus across the board. let's take a look at u.s. stock market futures. dow futures higher all morning long. 235 for the dow, 28 for the s&p 500 and we are also taking a look at commodities. oil jumps a little bit today or at least gets a little bit of a gain, that helps stocks along. that's up 43 cents right now. 29.85. gold is pulling back. that's down 3.80 and that's what we are looking at for commodities. big slide in oil last week. we have much more coming up on fbn and we go over to mornings with maria and we say hello to sandra smith.
